Abstract : Institutional pedagogy comes from Freinet’s pedagogy. The creation of a new trend in the sixties by Fernand Oury was soon perceived by activists as a withdrawal, if not as a scission. This scission, beyond the stakes of power among the leaders, is the consequence of the introduction of some tools that psychoanalysis lends to pedagogues in order to enlighten him about some phenomenons occurring in the classroom. This fresh look at the child and at the group generated other points of divergence between the two different pedagogies, in particular on all that is concerned with expression and creativity by the children. These points of divergence are nowadays intensified by the problems encountered by young teachers lacking authority and enticed by the rigour of institutional pedagogy, with the exception of the dimension of creative expression by the children, which is nonetheless a constitutive part of it. One is then entitled to wonder what remains of the construction erected by Ferdinand Oury, which links the present adepts of this pedagogy still have with Freinet’s pedagogy and consequently to reconsider the foundations of it, far beyond the mere techniques, and even beyond the initial humanist values.
Keywords : New Education - Reform - Alternative - Ideology - Consensus- Survival.
